Downloading and Installation Instructions:
* DO NOT *
install Boomerang on a disk that has deleted files or data that you need recovered as it can overwrite that very data you may want.
Registering the Software:
At any point, you can activate your copy of Boomerang by entering the key that was provided during purchase. A single-user license of Boomerang can only be used on one computer at a time. Once you enter your activation code, this computer will register itself with the Activation Server and be authorized to save the files. To keep dishonest people from sharing my software, and to prevent piracy, in order to use the software on another computer you’ll have to de-authorize the current computer before you can save from the other. To manage your licenses, login to your account at //my.boomerangdatarecovery.com/account/. Want to save data from multiple computers? Site licenses offer greater flexibility. Visit the order page to upgrade to or purchase a Site License.
If you have an Activation Key you can enter the activation key after opening Boomerang Data Recovery on the left side of the window under Software registration.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to click the right arrow (see image with red circle) in order to complete your activation!
* NOTE *
If you do not have a Activation/Registration key you can still run Boomerang Data Recovery in Demo mode, which will allow you to use multiple features but not the advanced settings.
Running the software:
From the applications folder open Boomerang Data Recovery
Choose the Desired recovery Module on the left hand side
From there each recovery module has different recovery options
Boomerang Offers 6 Different Types of Scans for the type of data loss problem you are experiencing.
Recovers data from an entire drive/device
Will recover a single partition, but, looks for all partitions on the drive when the one you want to recover is not initially listed. In other words, if the name of the device you want to scan is not listed, then running this scheme will present you with a list of all the partitions found and you can then select the one (or more) to scan for data. This is an advanced feature.
Recovers just deleted files.
Recovers files on a RAID system
For camera cards and similar types of storage devices and even photos deleted on a local/external hard drive.
Recovers songs, pictures, and files that are deleted from an iPod.

Once you have selected the drive that you want to recover, you have the option to customize the search by specifying the file type and the maximum file size in your recovery.
You can select multiple types of file types that can be recovered, by selecting the check boxes next to the desired name.
At the bottom of the window you can change the maximum file size to recover. Select the drop down menu and change the maximum file size to what you want.
New File Type
You can add different file types that may not appear on the default search for the recovery process.
Once your drive has been searched and the recovered files appear, select the files that you wish to recover and save.
Now all you have to do is click ‘Save Selected Files’ and you’re done! Be sure to have a place to save your data, and DO NOT try to save the data the same place you’re recovering it from! This concludes the guide. I’ll add more as the program changes, or you all make suggestions or need clarification of an item.
If you would like to preview the files before you save them, you can select the little icon at the top of the Boomerang window.
After selecting the preview button a new window will appear with an small preview of the file selected.
You can upgrade your activation number by clicking here or by clicking the increase button on the bottom left of the Boomerang window.
